Robert Z'Dar died Tuesday after suffering chest pains in Pensacola, FL. He was in the area to attend PensaCon, where he had been a regular for several years. Z'Dar was best-known for his role in the
Maniac Cop franchise but rose to fame after two of his movies -
Soultaker and
Future War - were spoofed by
Mystery Science Theater 3000.
However, Z'Dar had roles in over 100 films as well as roles on such TV shows as
Growing Pains. He even worked as a Chippendale's dancer at one point. He was set to star in a sequel to his movie,
Samurai Cop 2, following his appearance at PensaCon. Z'Dar was 64.
